What a great opportunity to work with the brilliant writer and speaker David Levin to create an illustrated slideshow supporting his Ted talk at Belfast's Stormont buildings. David is a social media genius and we have almost crossed paths many times over the years. David literally lived across the street from me in Muswell Hill twenty years ago, but we finally met in Holywood after an introduction from BMMU's Treena Clarke and our mutual friend Andi Jarvis. There were lots of inspirational talks on the day from speakers from all walks of life, including BBC correspondent Fergal Keane and Declan Lawn writer of BBC crime drama Blue Lights.
David's talk was a light-hearted affair that raised more than a few laughs. Originally from Leeds, he recently relocated to Holywood with his wife and young family and still sees himself as a 'Blow-in' and is very much coming to terms with a whole range of new colloquialisms that new friends and family in Northern Ireland take for granted. It was my job to provide illustrations to support David's monologue. No mean feat but I think we turned it around! Scroll to see which is your favourite 'norniron-ism'!
